Silmarillion: Himling Isle by LadyElleth Silmarillion: Himling Isle by LadyElleth
Himring, the hilltop fortress of Maedhros, was one of the few places to survive the War of Wrath and the resultant flooding of Beleriand, remaining as the Isle of Himling off the coast of Lindon during the later Ages of Middle-earth.

Very nice! You make it look desolated but not too, I dunno, depressing. With the fog, it's got an almost Avalon-like quality to it... pretty, especially with the gentle evening light!
(But damn, now you've made me want to pain Himring in its better days. Because I have an absurdly happy and optimistic Maedhros in my head and he refuses to consider any negative future right now. I HAVE NO TIIIIME! *wails* Also, potential "Shipwrecked on Himling" plotbunny? BRAIN, WHAT ARE YOU DOING.)

Oooh, I love the idea of Himring-as-Avalon - and if/when you have time, you should totally give in to that happy and optimistic Maedhros, especially after the architecture painting you posted!

(Shipwrecked on Himling, you say? Lyra's brain, don't stop! :D)

I know Himring isn't supposed to be Avalon, but visually, it works quite nicely! :D

Well, in any such painting, the architecture would be a lot more simple. The architecture in Silent Witness is supposed to be a rational (i.e., with actual walls) version of movie Rivendell; I expect it would be nowhere that elaborate for Himring.

(Nooo! There are so many ideas that I have to sort somehow, anyway!)

I always imagined an utterly ancient ruined fortress on that island. Nicely done. Now all we need is the distant sound of Maglor's voice carried on the still morning air.

I couldn't imagine it any other way, and I'm glad this works for you - and Maglor's voice - yes, I daresay that would give the scene a very poignant air!
