Fernweh

Well, what brought this on? Probably the end of term, people leaving to go home or on holiday, a picture of Vixen Tor on Dartmoor that was on the DA frontpage today, the fact that I would like to go to the UK to visit friends, which might not be the wisest thing at the moment, and the idea that as of tomorrow I'll be stuck at home for the summer (Harry Potter much?), which is not the most enjoyable prospect there could be. I'd rather travel, and 'Roads Go Ever On and On' from the Hobbit keeps running in circles in my mind.

So, have a picture - also of Dartmoor, from last year's summer holiday - to express all that. As the title says, Fernweh... you could translate it by 'wanderlust' (which, incidentally, is also a German word), but the concept is more like the reverse feeling of homesickness (Heimweh), with the same connotations, and was in fact deliberately coined to make it so.
